Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Tallahassee Florida
907 am EDT Tuesday Oct 7 2008

Update...recently animated water vapor loop showed an
amplified pattern over the eastern half of the country with a
shortwave trough over the Midwest that is trying to close off into
an upper low. The surface front associated with this feature is
currently well west of the local forecast area extending southwest
from Arkansas into central Texas. A surface ridge axis extends
southwest across the southeastern region with very moist
east-southeast winds streaming across the Gulf Coast. The latest observation
show dew points across the area ranging from the lower 60s over the
northern half of the County Warning Area to 70 near the coast along the Panhandle. As the
previously mentioned cold front continues to push east-southeast into the
region expected increasing rain chances across the local
area...mainly the western half today over the Panhandle and
southeast Alabama. Although plenty of cloud cover will limit the
destabilization today...a strong thunderstorm or two with gusty
winds and frequent lightning can't be ruled out. The previous
forecast appears to be on track at this time with no major updates
expected.

&&

Aviation...areas of IFR ceilings will gradually lift this morning...but
we still expect several areas of MVFR ceilings through the day and into
tonight. Numerous rain showers and isolated T will develop from west to east
today...with locally IFR visible/ceilings and gusty winds in the stronger
storms. The best chance for rain will be this afternoon through
tonight...especially from ktlh and kaby westward.
