NWS Forecaster Discussion
428 fxus64 kbmx 211728 afdbmx Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Birmingham Alabama 1230 PM CDT Thursday Aug 21 2008 Update...updated for aviation discussion. && Morning forecast package is in good shape for this afternoon. Left most grids nearly the same...with exception of the afternoon winds and wind gusts...which were raised a few knots. Fully expect to see good coverage in the west due to the rigorous storm system over the MS valley. By late this afternoon could also begin seeing an influence from Fays outer bands in the form of showers over the extreme southeast. All other grids are good to go. 17/klaws && Aviation...18z taf discussion. Two main concerns from the aviation standpoint. First is the winds...which will begin to get gusty from the east or northeast. Much of this is due to increasing pressure gradient from the ridging high to the northeast...the low center to the west...and the ever increasing influence of Fay. Speaking of Fay...the low level cloud field has started to move into the area...and will continue to do so through the period. Broken to overcast level cumulus and St will begin to overtake much of the area throughout the period. 17/klaws && Bmx watches/warnings/advisories...none. && $$
