Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Goodland Kansas
953 PM MST Wednesday Nov 19 2008

Discussion...big changes are in the forecast for tonight and
tomorrow. Currently temperatures across the tri-state region are
ranging into the upper 60s/lower 70s under mostly clear skies. To the
north...a cold front is sagging into central Nebraska with a low
cloud deck following shortly behind. This front will back into the
tri state area this evening bringing much cooler temperatures...low
clouds and breezy northerly winds. Should see some patchy fog and
freezing drizzle begin early Thursday morning. Afternoon
temperatures will only warm into the upper 30s with continued fog
and drizzle...and will remain through the end of the day. Should
see clouds begin to move off early Friday as colder air continues
to filter into the region. Overnight temperatures Thursday into
Friday morning will be much colder with lows in the upper teens
across the eastern counties and the lower 20s west.

Temperatures will begin to regulate Friday as a shortwave trough
pushes through the northern plains states. Northwest 500 mb flow behind
the trough will aid in scouring out the residual moisture.
At the surface...winds will switch out of the south and warmer air
will return. Friday will see highs in the low to middle 40s. The
extended will see dry weather with maximum temperatures warming
into the low to middle 50s with lows cooling to the middle 20s.

Aviation...
for the 06z tafs...stratus deck has made it to kmck and kgld...though
the eastern edge is not as solid as it once was. Kmck may actually clear
a few hours before stratus redevelops there. Will keep low MVFR conditions
for most of the night/early morning at kgld. Conditions should improve
after 21z at both sites.

Gld watches/warnings/advisories...
