Area forecast discussion...updated

Update...high pressure ridge is now south of the forecast area 
with a dry west/northwest flow across the forecast area today and along with 
850 temperatures reaching double digit values we will see maximum temperatures into 
the middle to upper 60s...although still running 5-10 degrees below 
normal for this time of year. West/northwest winds around 10 miles per hour across the 
forecast area today under mostly sunny skies. For tonight...next 
cold frontal passage will take place with little fanfare other 
than maybe some scattered clouds at times. Min temperatures will run a 
bit warmer than this morning due to mixing and late onset of cold 
air advection and no freeze/frost is expected.

Marine...west winds have increased quite a bit ahead of the next 
front and will bump up grids/coastal waters forecast to small craft exercise caution 
conds over the offshore waters as buoys already 15-20g25 knots and 
seas in the 4-6ft range. Otherwise expect bigger surge of northwesterly 
winds behind the front later on tonight as cold air advection sets 
up.

Fire weather...dry airmass will be mixed out this afternoon and 
with warmer maximum temperatures into the middle/upper 60s expect red flag 
warnings across NE Florida to have no problem verifying with min relative humidity in 
the 25-30% range.

Climate...Gainesville Florida (kgnv) set a record low of 29 degrees 
this morning breaking the old record of 30 in 1968. Record report 
has been sent.
