Area forecast discussion...updated
National Weather Service Shreveport la
issued by National Weather Service Fort Worth Texas
1131 am CST Thursday Nov 20 2008

Aviation...
18z tafs
timing of wind shift is greatest challenge for this taf issuance.
Tyr/lfk/shv/mlu presently with west winds...but will shift to
northwest/north by middle to late afternoon /20-23z/. Expect north
to northeast winds around 10 kts overnight. Skies will remain VFR.

Previous discussion... /issued issued by National Weather Service Fort Worth Texas/

Update...
patchy dense fog still lingering in Monroe vicinity but
conditions should rapidly improve during the next hour. While cold
front has plowed across areas to our north and west this
morning...front seems to be hung up across far northern sections
of the County Warning Area. Will make some adjustments to wind grids and lower sky
cover through the morning hours. Will not make tweaks to maximum temperature
grid for now as slower frontal passage should yield afternoon
temperatures close to current forecast.

Discussion... /issued 859 am CST Thursday Nov 20 2008/
quick zone update just sent to cancel the dense fog advisory for
deep East Texas/scntrl Arkansas/all of north la...before our office GOES down for
the NAS Beta software upgrade. Fog will completely burn off within
the next hour or so...with approaching cold front expected to plow
southward into the region late this morning/afternoon. Did beef up sky
cover to partly cloudy by afternoon with low level moisture
pooling along the front...which is expected to clear from north to S
tonight with drier air filtering S in wake of the front. Maximum temperatures
up across SW Arkansas today may be a little too warm...with strong cold
advection with the front expected to allow temperatures to drop with the
frontal passage.

Will allow our backup office /WFO ftw/ address these concerns in
a possible later update. We hope to be up and going again by
midday or so.

Updates suite of products have been issued...grids will be
available shortly.

Aviation...
dense fog across southeast half of County Warning Area...trapped in 1000 feet saturation
layer...within a surface-900 mb steep inversion layer. Dense fog
advisory expiring 15z...patches fog may continue past 1630z.
Strong cold front slowed down...remaining west and north of County Warning Area.
North winds behind front may gust to around 25 miles per hour this afternoon.
Aside from fog...VFR sky clear both sides of front. /Vii/
