Synopsis For The Middle Texas Coastal Waters
A vigorous upper level storm system will move across the region this evening. This system will interact with abundant moisture to produce widespread light showers and isolated thunderstorms over the coastal waters. A strong surface low pressure area in south Texas responsible for the strong northeast wind flow will move into the Gulf of Mexico this evening. A strong offshore flow will develop in its wake tonight which will persist through Saturday morning. The offshore flow will decrease Saturday afternoon and become onshore Sunday. Onshore flow will gradually increase through Monday ahead of another cold front which will move through the coastal waters on Tuesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms can be expected ahead of the front. A strong offshore flow will develop in the wake of this next front.

Northeast winds 20 to 30 knots becoming northwest 15 to 25 knots in the late evening and overnight. Seas 10 to 14 feet subsiding below 10 feet after midnight. Chance of showers in the evening.

* special marine warning for...
Laguna Madre from 5 nm north of Port Mansfield to Baffin Bay TX.
Coastal waters from Baffin Bay to Port Mansfield TX out 20 nm.
Waters from Baffin Bay to Port Mansfield TX from 20 to 60 nm.

* Until 700 PM CST

* at 531 PM CST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated an
area of strong thunderstorm... with wind gusts of 34 knots or
greater... 15 miles north of Port Mansfield... moving east southeast
at 20 knots.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Wind gusts to 45 knots will occur... producing very high waves. If at
sea... go below deck until the storm has passed. Others should remain
in port.

Please report waterspouts or funnel clouds... winds of 34 knots or
higher... hail the size of pennies or larger... and any vessel damage
to your National Weather Service in Brownsville by calling
