Forecast discussion: major features/winds/seas/significant

weather for the North Pacific N of 30n and E of 150w.

Attm I dont anticipate many changes in the upcoming pkg. The prv

discussion follows.

Quikscat pass FM 03z had a swath across the WA/OR into nrn CA

altho there was limited data ovr the sern sections of nrn CA

into the cntrl CA wtrs. The highest winds where there was data

was to 30 kt alg the N and cntrl CA wtrs. Elsw further S ovr the

srn CA wtrs an earlier Quikscat pass FM 02z alg the far sern

cntrl CA wtrs had winds to 20 kt.

Latest mdl guid does not vary much FM earlier data. The high

pres rdg to the W of the WA/OR and nrn CA wtrs alg with the low

pres trof ovr the inland areas should maintain a strong pres

enuf grad ovr the ern areas of nrn the cntrl CA wtrs for

marginal gales into tngt. On Thu ngt into Fri the GFS/Gem

strengthen the pres grad ovr the same area again. The

UKMET/ECMWF are not as strong altho they do indicate a

strengthening grad. Wl cont with marginal gales for Thu ngt and

Fri in this area. Elsw a cd fnt wl cross into the WA/OR wtrs

Fri. All of the mdl guid rmns smlr with the timing and does not

show any strengthening of the flw inadvof the fnt. Anticipate

winds to 20 kt in the WA wtrs Fri.
